Our Story

Our Name – In hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓, Həleləm means “houses” or “housing.” To the Collective, it embodies the spirit of home — gathering together, lifting one another up, and restoring balance through safe, culturally grounded homes where Tsawwassen Members not only survive, but thrive.
How It Began – The Həleləm Collective was created by Tsawwassen First Nation to meet a growing need for safe, stable, and culturally grounded housing. We recognize that housing is more than shelter, it’s the foundation for belonging, safety, and the ability for Members to build a future with confidence and pride.
Our Approach – We were established as an arms-length housing authority so that TFN homes could be managed fairly, transparently, and with consistency, while remaining rooted in the Nation’s values. Our approach is trauma-informed, community-based, and guided by respect, cultural safety, and healing.
